BetMGM Increases Welcome Offer to $1,500 in Bonus Bets via CBS Promo Code

BetMGM is matching competitive offer levels with a $1,500 bonus bet promotion tied to a first-loss scenario. The offer, accessible through the CBS Sports promo code CBSSPORTS, applies across multiple sports including the World Series and NBA action on Wednesday.

How the promotion works. New customers enter the code CBSSPORTS and place an initial wager. If that bet loses, they receive up to $1,500 in bonus bets as a rebate. This structure—sometimes called a first-bet insurance offer—removes some of the edge that favors the sportsbook on early action. A customer can place a larger opening bet with less downside risk.

The competitive landscape. Welcome bonuses have become a race toward larger dollar amounts as licensed sportsbooks compete for market share. DraftKings and other operators have pushed the ceiling higher, and BetMGM's $1,500 offer is positioned to stay competitive. From the operator's perspective, the goal is to acquire customers at scale while hoping they stick around after the promotional period ends.

Wednesday's timing. The World Series and NBA games provide high-interest betting moments for both new and existing users. Promoting a bonus offer during major sports events increases the likelihood that people will take action. Promotions stacked during peak sports windows are designed to drive volume and capture users when engagement is highest.

Player considerations. While bonus bets carry no direct cost, they come with expiration dates and restrictions on how they can be used. Understanding the terms—odds minimums, wagering requirements, game restrictions—ensures the full value is realized. Bonus bets are tools to increase action, not free money, and should be evaluated based on actual betting behavior and interest, not just the headline figure.
