How summer weather swings MLB run totals

OddsShift · Jun 29, 2026

Baseball is the most weather-sensitive sport to bet, and summer is when it matters most.

Heat and humidity thin the air, and the ball carries further — warm, muggy nights favor offense. Wind is even bigger: a stiff breeze blowing out can turn a pitcher-friendly park into a launching pad, while wind blowing in can knock down balls that would otherwise leave the yard.

Before betting a total, check the forecast and the park. A day game in July with the wind blowing out plays nothing like a cool night game with it blowing in — even with the same two teams on the field.
